Microcrystalline waxes are more branched and have longer hydrocarbon chains than paraffin waxes, resulting in higher toughness, flexibility and (generally) higher melting points.

Impart excellent heat sealability and moisture barrier properties. Grades possess FDA approval for food contact. - Candles
Can be used as additives in wax formulations to increase fragrance retention and improve aesthetics of the candle. - Inks
Increase the rub, abrasion and slip resistance of printing inks & thermal transfer ribbons. Additionally, they can enhance gloss and durability. - Adhesives
For hot-melt adhesives, can be used to optimise the viscosity, set time, bond strength and thermal stability.
