āluān are a female led organisation who integrate business and conservation in order to address the multi-layered threats to nature on their islands. Alongside EcosystemImpact, āluān employ 35 full-time community rangers to protect the islands frontlines from songbird and sea turtle poaching. They have also successfully planted 36 marine coral restoration structures and employ an education officer who has added a conservation themed syllabus to local village schools. āluān partner with 500 coconut farmers to source fresh organic certified coconuts for their high quality oil that is produced via a heat-free centrifugal extraction process.
Koster Keunen has a worldwide presence with facilities in Watertown, Bladel and Lomé, Togo. Their beeswax supply chain in West Africa is a long-term commitment with cooperative and beekeeper groups. Koster's sustainable beeswax program means beekeepers are paid a fair living wage, helping to elevate entire communities. This program has helped 30,000+ keepers, increases food production, and supports safe beekeeping practices. Koster want to drive global change for the handling of bees and the cultivation of beeswax. The results of this work can be seen in the quality of wax produced, the recurrent income at the local level, and professionalisation of the local beekeeping society.
Forestwise’s mission is to #StopDeforestation and create #RainforestValue. They do this by developing a market for valuable rainforest products that are wild-harvested from the rainforest without damaging it. Forestwise create alternative sources of income from crops such as illipe nuts, kukui nuts, and arenga sugar. They increase the economic value of the remaining forest, and give forest communities a sound economic incentive for continuing to protect it.
Premium Organic have developed an innovative and sustainable extraction process for their patented Alpin Heilmoor Extract™. They preserve the moor’s co2 reservoir by keeping the topsoil intact. Extraction only takes place once a year for two weeks, which gives the moor time to regenerate. By creating moor-biotopes at the quarrying sites, biodiversity (flora & fauna) is increased, and the moorland is revitalised. This long-term quarrying and renaturation plan, developed and constantly monitored by experts, enables a complete regeneration of the heilmoor.
